  45. The Intel(R) Application Accelerator is designed to improve
  46. performance of the storage sub-system and overall system
  47. performance.  This software delivers improved performance
  48. through several ingredient technologies (components).
  49. Certain components will be available only on Pentium(R) 4
  50. processor-based systems running Microsoft* Windows* 2000
  51. Professional and Windows XP. Software  installation is 
  52. flexible and fully automated for Microsoft* Windows 98,
  53. Windows 98 Second Edition (SE), Windows Millennium
  54. Edition (Me), Windows NT* 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows
  55. XP operating systems.

  58. * 2.  SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  61. 1.  The system must contain the following Intel products:

  63.     * Intel(R) Pentium(R) III or Pentium(R) 4 processor     
  64.     * Intel(R) 82801AA, 82801AB or 82801BA controllers

  66. 2.  The kit software should be installed on systems with at
  67.     least the minimum system memory required by the
  68.     operating system.

  111. * 4.  INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE

  114. General Installation Notes:
  115.  
  116. 1.  The operating system and the Intel(R) Chipset Software
  117.     Installation Utility must be installed on the system
  118.     prior to installation.
  119.  
  120. 2.  Click on the self-extracting and self-installing setup 
  121.     file and answer all prompts presented.
  122.  
  123. 3.  You will be prompted to reboot when installation is 
  124.     complete.
  125.  
  126. Note:
  127.   
  128. By default, all general files (README.TXT, etc.) are copied 
  129. to the path <bootdrive>:\Program Files\Intel\Intel
  130. Application Accelerator 
  131.     
  132. 4.1.  INSTALLSHIELD* (AUTOMATED) INSTALL FROM HARD DRIVE OR
  133.       CD-ROM
  134.  
  135. 1.  Download the Intel(R) Application Accelerator
  136.     setup file and double-click to self-extract and to 
  137.     begin the setup process.
  138.  
  139. 2.  The Welcome window appears. Click on the Next button to 
  140.     continue.
  141.  
  142. 3.  The Software License Agreement window appears. Click on
  143.     the Yes button and the drivers begins to install.
  144.  
  145. 5.  The Setup Complete window appears. Select "Yes, I 
  146.     want to restart my computer now" and click on the Finish
  147.     button. 
  148.  
  149. 6.  To verify if the driver has been loaded correctly, refer
  150.     to Section 5.

  154. * 5.  VERIFYING INSTALLATION OF THE SOFTWARE
  155. ************************************************************

  157. 1.  The verification of the Intel(R) Application Accelerator
  158.     is different on a per operating system basis.  Please 
  159.     refer to the correct operating system subsection for 
  160.     details.
  161.  
  162. A.  For all operating systems supported:
  163.     
  164.     * Run 'Start', 'Programs', 'Intel', then 'Intel
  165.       Application Accelerator'
  166.     * Double-click 'Application Accelerator' 
  167.     * The main interface should now be displayed.

  171. * 6.  ADVANCED INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  174. The following  SETUP flags are available:
  175.   -?                  Help information for the setup flags 
  176.            (shown below)
  177.   -S                  Silent install (no user prompts)
  178.   -B                  Forces a system reboot after installation
  179.   -P <path>           Supplies target installation path
  180.   -A                  Extracts all driver files (does not install 
  181.            driver) to <path> if -P is also supplied, or 
  182.                       the default directory otherwise
  183.   -N                  Installs all components except driver
  184.   -O <name>           Supplies target Start Menu Program Folder 
  185.                       name if installing Companion applet
  186.   -L <number>         Forces a particular language install (See 
  187.            the product documentation for a table 
  188.                       mapping <number> to language)
  189.   -build              Displays build number
  190.   -f2 <path\name>  Creates a log file in <path> with <name>;
  191.            this is to be used during silent
  192.            installation.
  193.   -noqfe              Prevents Microsoft patch from being
  194.                    installed.  The patch prevents a blue screen
  195.                    from occurring when attempting to play audio
  196.                    content from CDs in digital mode on
  197.                    Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, and Windows Me.

  200. *** "Package-for-the-web" requires that an additional -A be
  201. placed before any flag.  Therefore, an example file extraction
  202. would be IATA_CD -A -A -P C:\<path> ***

  204. Notes:  Flags and their parameters are not case-sensitive.  
  205.         Flags may be supplied in any order, with the 
  206.     exception of the -S and -L flags which must be 
  207.     supplied last.  When using the -A flag, a target 
  208.         path may be specified via the -P flag, and the -O, 
  209.         -L, -S, and -N flags are ignored.  When using the -P 
  210.         or -O flags, a space is required between the flag 
  211.         and the argument; when using -L and -f2, however, there 
  212.         should be no space.  When using the -f2 flag, a
  213.         log file name and path must be specified.
  214.  
  215. To load just the driver as outlined in the Microsoft*
  216. document, "Deployment Guide Automating Windows NT Setup," 
  217. use the supplied TXTSETUP.OEM file included in this 
  218. package and insert the lines below into the UNATTEND.TXT 
  219. file.  This method is available for both Microsoft* Windows* 
  220. NT* 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. (For Windows NT 4.0,
  221. the TXTSETUP.OEM, INTELATA.INF, and INTELATA.SYS file need to
  222. first be extracted from the compressed .CAB file.  For
  223. Windows 2000 and Windows XP, the idechndr.inf, IdeBusDr.sys,
  224. idechndr.sys, and Txtsetup.oem files need to be extracted.
  225. To extract these files, run 'SETUP -A -P <path>' as described
  226. above.)

  270. * 7.  IDENTIFYING THE SOFTWARE VERSION NUMBER

  273. For all operating systems, please follow the instructions 
  274. presented to correctly identify the software version number. 
  275.  
  276. 1.  Click on the Start button.  Open the Programs menu. Open
  277.     the Intel Menu. OPen the Application Accelerator menu.  
  278.     Click on the Application Accelerator icon.
  279.  
  280. 2.  The Application Accelerator appears.  Go to 'Help' and
  281.     'About'.  Observe the Application Accelerator Build
  282.     number on the bottom left corner of the 'About' screen.

  285. * 8.  UNINSTALLING THE SOFTWARE

  288. NOTE: This procedure assumes that the above installation
  289.       process was successful. This un-installation procedure
  290.       is specific only to the version of the software and
  291.       installation file included in this package.

  293. 1.  Click on the Start button.  Open the Settings menu.  
  294.     Click on the Control Panel icon to open the Control 
  295.     Panel window.
  296.  
  297. 2.  Click on the Add/Remove programs icon.  
  298.  
  299. 3.  Select Intel(R) Application Accelerator and click OK. 
  300.  
  301. 4.  Click on Yes when the script prompts for confirmation.
  302.  
  303. 5.  The uninstall script will prompt you to restart the 
  304.     system.

  311. IMPORTANT - READ BEFORE COPYING, INSTALLING OR USING.  Do
  312. not use or load this software and any associated materials
  313. (collectively, the "Software") until you have carefully read
  314. the following terms and conditions. By loading or using the
  315. Software, you agree to the terms of this Agreement. If you
  316. do not wish to so agree, do not install or use the Software.

  318. Please Also Note:
  319. * If you are an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM),
  320.   Independent Hardware Vendor (IHV), or Independent Software
  321.   Vendor (ISV) this complete LICENSE AGREEMENT applies;
  322. * If you are an End-User, then only Exhibit A, the INTEL
  323.   SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT, applies.

  326. For OEMs, IHVs, and ISVs:
  327.  
  328. LICENSE.  This Software is licensed for use only in 
  329. conjunction with Intel component products. Use of the
  330. Software in conjunction with non-Intel component products
  331. is not Licensed hereunder. Subject to the terms of this 
  332. Agreement, Intel grants to You a nonexclusive,
  333. nontransferable, worldwide, fully paid-up license under
  334. Intel's copyrights to:
  335.   a) use, modify, and copy Software internally for Your own
  336.      development and maintenance purposes; and
  337.   b) modify, copy and distribute Software, including
  338.      derivative works of the Software, to Your end-users,
  339.      but only under a license agreement with terms at least
  340.      as restrictive as those contained in Intel's Final,
  341.      Single-User License Agreement, attached as Exhibit A;
  342.      and
  343.   c) modify, copy and distribute the end-user documentation
  344.      that may accompany the Software, but only in
  345.      association with the Software.
  346. If You are not the final manufacturer or vendor of a
  347. computer system or software program incorporating the
  348. Software, then You may transfer a copy of the Software,
  349. including derivative works of the Software (and related
  350. end-user documentation), to Your recipient for use in
  351. accordance with the terms of this Agreement, provided such
  352. recipient agrees to be fully bound by the terms hereof. You
  353. shall not otherwise assign, sublicense, lease or in any
  354. other way transfer or disclose Software to any third party.
  355. You shall not reverse-compile, disassemble or otherwise
  356. reverse-engineer the Software.
  357.  
  358. Except as expressly stated in this Agreement, no license or
  359. right is granted to You directly or by implication,
  360. inducement, estoppel or otherwise. Intel shall have the
  361. right to inspect or have an independent auditor inspect Your
  362. relevant records to verify Your compliance with the terms
  363. and conditions of this Agreement.
  364.  
  365. CONFIDENTIALITY.  If You wish to have a third-party
  366. consultant or subcontractor ("Contractor") perform work on
  367. Your behalf that involves access to or use of Software, You
  368. shall obtain a written confidentiality agreement from the
  369. Contractor that contains terms and obligations with respect
  370. to access to or use of Software no less restrictive than
  371. those set forth in this Agreement and excluding any
  372. distribution rights, and use for any other purpose.
  373. Otherwise, You shall not disclose the terms or existence of
  374. this Agreement or use Intel's name in any publications,
  375. advertisements or other announcements without Intel's prior
  376. written consent. You do not have any rights to use any Intel
  377. trademarks or logos.
  378.  
  379. OWNERSHIP OF SOFTWARE AND COPYRIGHTS.  Title to all copies
  380. of the Software remains with Intel or its suppliers. The
  381. Software is copyrighted and protected by the laws of the
  382. United States and other countries, and by international
  383. treaty provisions. You may not remove any copyright notices
  384. from the Software. Intel may make changes to the Software,
  385. or to items referenced therein, at any time without notice,
  386. but is not obligated to support or update the Software.
  387. Except as otherwise expressly provided, Intel grants no
  388. express or implied right under Intel patents, copyrights,
  389. trademarks or other intellectual property rights. You may
  390. transfer the Software only if the recipient agrees to be
  391. fully bound by these terms and if you retain no copies of
  392. the Software.
  393.  
  394. LIMITED MEDIA WARRANTY.  If the Software has been delivered
  395. by Intel on physical media, Intel warrants the media to be
  396. free from material, physical defects for a period of ninety
  397. (90) days after delivery by Intel. If such a defect is
  398. found, return the media to Intel for replacement or
  399. alternate delivery of the Software as Intel may select.
  400.  
  401. EXCLUSION OF OTHER WARRANTIES. EXCEPT AS PROVIDED ABOVE,
  402. THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS," WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR
  403. IMPLIED WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF
  404. MERCHANTABILITY, NONINFRINGEMENT OR FITNESS FOR A
  405. PARTICULAR PURPOSE.  Intel does not warrant or assume
  406. responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of any
  407. information, text, graphics, links or other items contained
  408. within the Software.
  409.  
  410. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. IN NO EVENT SHALL INTEL OR ITS
  411. SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING,
  412. WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOST PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR
  413. LOST INFORMATION) ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO
  414. USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF INTEL HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE
  415. POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. SOME JURISDICTIONS PROHIBIT
  416. EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR IMPLIED WARRANTIES
  417. OR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE
  418. LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER
  419. LEGAL RIGHTS THAT VARY FROM JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION.

  421. TERMINATION OF THIS AGREEMENT.  Intel may terminate this
  422. Agreement at any time if you violate its terms. Upon
  423. termination, you will immediately destroy the Software or
  424. return all copies of the Software to Intel.
  425.  
  426. APPLICABLE LAWS.  Claims arising under this Agreement shall
  427. be governed by the laws of California, excluding its
  428. principles of conflict of laws and the United Nations
  429. Convention on Contracts for the Sale of Goods. You may not
  430. export the Software in violation of applicable export laws
  431. and regulations. Intel is not obligated under any other
  432. agreements unless they are in writing and signed by an
  433. authorized representative of Intel.
  434.  
  435. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS.  The Software is provided
  436. with "RESTRICTED RIGHTS." Use, duplication or disclosure
  437. by the Government is subject to restrictions as set forth
  438. in FAR52.227-14 and DFAR252.227-7013 et seq. or their
  439. successors. Use of the Software by the Government
  440. constitutes acknowledgment of Intel's proprietary rights
  441. therein. Contractor or Manufacturer is Intel Corporation,
  442. 2200 Mission College Blvd., Santa Clara, CA 95052.

  446. INTEL SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT (Final, Single User)
  447.  
  448. IMPORTANT - READ BEFORE COPYING, INSTALLING OR USING.  Do
  449. not use or load this software and any associated materials
  450. (collectively, the "Software") until you have carefully read
  451. the following terms and conditions. By loading or using the
  452. Software, you agree to the terms of this Agreement. If you
  453. do not wish to so agree, do not install or use the Software.
  454.  
  455. LICENSE.  You may copy the Software onto a single computer
  456. for your personal, non-commercial use, and you may make one
  457. back-up copy of the Software, subject to these conditions: 
  458. 1. This Software is licensed for use only in conjunction
  459.    with Intel component products.  Use of the Software in
  460.    conjunction with non-Intel components is not licensed
  461.    hereunder.
  462. 2. You may not copy, modify, rent, sell, distribute or
  463.    transfer any part of the Software except as provided in
  464.    this Agreement, and you agree to prevent unauthorized
  465.    copying of the Software.
  466. 3. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble
  467.    the Software. 
  468. 4. You may not sublicense or permit simultaneous use of the
  469.    Software by more than one user.
  470. 5. The Software may contain the software or other property
  471.    of third-party suppliers, some of which may be identified
  472.    in, and licensed in accordance with, any enclosed
  473.    "license.txt" file or other text or file.
  474.
